SPIRITUALITY AND THE STUDENT LIFE
As the author of "Spirit Journey" and "The Tao of Christ", Dr. Keim is keenly interested in the role of spirituality and student life and how a deeply rooted spirituality can assist students in dealing with the stress and pressure of campus life. "Religion," wrote Sister Joan Chittister, "is for those people who are afraid to go to hell. Spirituality is for those of us who have already been there." "Spirituality has been identified as a spoke in the wellness wheel model created at the University of Wisconsin. To ignore it does not make it go away, but allows for it to become isolated and self centered. Students are looking for greater meaning and depth in their lives.", writes Dr. Keim. This presentation identifies several different paths of spirituality and gives students some ideas for reading and development in many different traditions. Dr. Keim is an Intercollegiate Chaplain (volunteer) for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and has studied with Dr. Marcus Borg, Dr. Ron Clarke, and Dr. Nick Yonkers at Oregon State as well as Dr. Robert Blaney, Father Robert Silva, Rabbi Bernard Rosenberg and Kathleen Shannon at The University Of The Pacific.
